HISTORY 1957 - 1958
MULTIPLE
By Percy Plant – Georgia State Historian
The year showed increased interest in Lionism in District ,18. Our six District Governors. displayed a real spirit of Lionism and much of the credit belongs to them.
The feature of the year was the large number of excellent District, Regional, Zone and club anniversary meetings held in the state.

CONVENTIONS
The Georgia State Convention, sponsored by the Decatur Lions Club in honor of its 25th anniversary, was one of the most enjoyable and instructive in the ,history of Georgia Lionism. Addresses were made by Lions International Director General Roy Keaton and Third Vice-President Finis Davis. The District Governors Cup was awarded the Savannah Lions Club.
The International Convention in San Francisco was well attended by Georgia Lions. We had a Georgia Breakfast and a Hospitality Room which was second to none. For the first time a retiring District Governor was honored by being placed on the Instruction Panel for incoming District Governors-the Lion so honored was International Counselor Ed Dyer of District 18D.
At the coming International Convention in Chicago, International Counselor Ivan H. Jackson of the Cartersville Lions Club will be presented by the Lions of Georgia as a candidate for International Director.
In addition to going all-out for Ivan, Georgia Lions will carry a band, have a Georgia Breakfast, a Hospitality Room, and a sensational Georgia Hoe Down.
THE GEORGIA LIONS LIGHTHOUSE, INC.
During the past year the Lighthouse has spent $27,362.19 on 431 pairs of glasses, 15 artificial eyes and 215 hospital bills. Your money helped give two operations to a small boy attending the Academy for the Blind at Macon. Sight was restored and he is now attending public school in his home town.
The Lighthouse should have the full support of each and every Lion and Lions Club in Georgia.
