Liberty Day Booklets

One of the focal points of Liberty Day Colorado is the publication of a pocket-sized booklet containing copies of the Declaration of Independence and the U. S. Constitution.  This booklet is printed by Lions with contributions from local businesses, citizens and Lions clubs and is given free of charge to students of all ages from across the state.  It proved so successful that 41,000 copies were given out and a second printing was necessary.

The booklets are distributed in conjunction with a visit from current or former elected officials such as state and national legislators, district attorneys, mayors, city council members, county commissioners and so on.  Some speak about freedom and liberty as defined in the founding documents, while others reflect on their responsibilities as elected employees of the people.

Printing of Booklets

The little pocket-sized booklet contains the Declaration of Independence and the U S Constitution, and is distributed to school kids around the state.  Because other groups had printed and distributed a similar booklet, but with advertising motives or with a political agenda, we decided that the book should contain only those two documents – with no other message included.  It was decided that Liberty Day had to be absolutely nonpartisan, with no political agenda, that it should be done with private donations rather than public money, and that work on the project should be undertaken by service groups.

Liberty Day found a great printer.  'Liberty Day  (your state)' booklets will be printed for the a low price since 'plates' for the booklet pages are already created.  The graphic designer has agreed to provide, at no cost, camera-ready artwork for the front cover of any booklet.
